In individual therapy at Agave Studio, our primary goal is to create a space where you can flourish–where your therapist can hold what you bring to the space and encourage you in self-understanding, self-acceptance, and growth.
All of our therapists are trained to using multiple modalities in working with clients, varying from cognitive/behavioral therapy to psychodynamic and existential approaches. IFS and EMDR are two newer modalities that our therapists have felt reflect the non-pathologizing and self-embracing posture with which we approach our clients.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is a model of psychotherapy that is integrative and non-pathologizing. It provides practical techniques for clients to realize their inner confident and compassionate selves, so that clients are able to heal according to their own unique systems. If you have felt stuck, unmotivated, paralyzed by trauma, perfectionism, depression, obsessional anxiety or addictive habits, then this is a therapeutic approach that will help you find the change you seek. It is a deeply empowering, innovative and creative method for both client and therapist to engage together for healing to occur.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a one-on-one form of psychotherapy that is designed to treat the symptoms of various forms of trauma and to improve overall emotional well-being. It has most notably been scientifically proven to help reduce the symptoms of depression and anxiety related to acute trauma experiences. EMDR uses adaptive information processing to help the client change the negative beliefs, emotions and somatic symptoms associated with a traumatic memory into a more adaptive memory network. It is a very powerful and healing therapeutic technique.
