AJ Carlson
MA, LCPC, Psychotherapist
Pronouns: She/They
As humans, we have a need to be seen, heard, and understood. Our relational needs are particularly important when in a place of struggle. As your therapist, I will strive to hold space, offer safety and connection as you reimagine and change your relationship with yourself, others, and your experiences. I am passionate about working with individuals, groups, and queer couples and specialize in supporting you through anxiety, addiction, LGBTQ identity work, life transitions, spiritual deconstruction and grief.
In session, I use emotion-focused and body-based practices to help you connect with your intuition, set limits, and honor your experience. I want to know what it's like to be you and also examine environments that inform what you've been through, including family history, cultural dimensions, and sociopolitical systems.
Outside of formal training, I have found that nature, dogs, music, long walks, silence, laughter, imperfections, and tears are some of the greatest healers. Currently, I am looking for weekly clients who want to build a long-term therapeutic relationship. The best way to reach me is via email and I do my best to respond within 2-3 business days.
